Fairview International School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World Schools, that looks beyond the intellectual development of students but also nurture their physical, social and emotional well-being.
A centre of excellence for IB education, Fairview International Schools is a pioneer of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum in Malaysia. The school provides the full spectrum of IB programmes for students aged 3-19 years of age.
Now in its 35th year of outstanding academic performance, Fairview International Schools and her community of students, originating from over 55 countries worldwide continue to promote international mindedness, understanding and respect across all campuses.
Fairview currently has four IB World Schools authorised across Malaysia; Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru and Subang Jaya with another one scheduled to open in Ipoh, Perak. Fairview is the only IB World School authorised to provide 10 IB programmes: IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)], IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and IB Diploma Programme (DP).
Teaching and Learning
Using the IB framework, Fairview provides ab student centred education, encouraging pupils to foster a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Social, emotional and physical education are also an integral part of the student’s tutelage. Fairview motivates pupils to become compassionate, internationally-minded lifelong learners by applying the IB Learner Profile, a set of 10 attributes which inspire and motive students to become successful global citizens for the 21stcentury
Students undertake various forms of experiential learning through local excursions and bi-annual expeditions to national and international destinations such as ASEAN nations, Taiwan and China. Community and Service is an integral part of the pupils learning at Fairview in which student-led activities and events are organised to raise funds and awareness of issues which have both local and global effects.
Fairview’s innovative approach to learning has allowed the school to offer a new programme never seen before in Malaysia. This unique ‘Mother-Tongue Programme’ offered by Fairview to PYP students incorporates the IB framework while integrating the traditions and values of the specified mother-tongue language. Mandarin, one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, was chosen as the first language launched in this programme, in accordance with the language policy of the IB Organisation and the Malaysian Ministry of Education. The success of this new programme will see Fairview explore Malay and Korean as available mother-tongue languages in the near future.
